Christian Kabongo becomes the third Canadian to make a Division 1 commitment within the last five days, as the former Scadding Court and Grassroots Canada AAU star settled his future.

Kabongo is a very explosive 6’4” wing with a scorer’s mentality. He will find ways to the rim and finish strong with his mature body and impressive athleticism. He is currently attending a prep school - God’s Academy in Dallas, Texas - with plans to join the East Carolina Pirates in January.

Last year, Kabongo was under the radar due to spending time at two different schools – Zion Lutheran (FL) and Central Commerce (Toronto, ON). However, he made a name for himself on the AAU scene, where former Grassroots Canada coach and new East Carolina Director of Basketball Operations, John Ashaolu, knew him well.

East Carolina was 13-17 overall (5-11 in conference) last year as a member of Conference USA.
