Kadeem Green
The high-major Division 1 commitments continue to roll in from Canadians. The latest gem from the loaded Class of 2010 is Kadeem Green, United Faith Christian Academy’s star forward, who is now off the board after visiting his future Big 12 program last weekend.
The first thing that stands out with the 6’8” Kadeem is his ridiculous length (i.e. 9’2” standing reach). Add on his athleticism and this is a gazelle that fits an up-tempo style where he can get out and run. After visiting the University of Missouri campus for his first official visit, the Markham, Ontario native saw the perfect fit with head coach Mike Anderson’s program and verbally committed.
“He liked their style of play, the way the coach uses his bench, and how he pushes the team,” says Kevin Scarlett, AAU coach for Team Takeover Canada and Kadeem’s long-time mentor.
“On the visit, he felt very comfortable and knew he would fit in nicely with the players and system. It is also a great conference for exposure to the next level.”
With considerable untapped potential, Coach Anderson’s plan is to make him as versatile as he wants to be.
“Coach Anderson loved the way Kadeem was able to do so many things well and thought he reminded him a lot of [former Missouri Tiger and current Memphis Grizzlies rookie] DeMarre Carroll,” says Scarlett.
“He said that Kadeem was the prototypical player for his system, but more than anything else, he said he loved Kadeem’s personality.”
With at least 25 mid-high major D1 programs showing interest in Green, it came down to Missouri, Memphis, New Mexico, Virginia Commonwealth, and Cincinnati.
With the recruiting experience over, he can now focus on his upcoming senior year at United Faith Christian Academy (Charlotte, NC), the defending NCISAA 1A state champions.
